We help to find volunteering opportunities for people in not-for-profit organisations only. We do not screen or vet any volunteers and therefore are not responsible for assessing a volunteer’s suitability.
As we work with over many organisations and advertise in many opportunities, we rely on you to keep us up to date with any changes in your organisation, so please let us know if you no longer require volunteers, move offices or there is a change in contact person.
Generally, we give people information about your organisation to take away with them. If they are interested, they will contact you directly. Sometimes, we will make enquiries on a volunteer’s behalf, but we do not recommend particular volunteers or take up references. It is your responsibility to make sure that the volunteers you recruit are suitable.
By filling in the forms, you enable us to give out accurate information about the use of volunteers within your organisation. The forms are available to download at the bottom of the page.
We aim to introduce online forms over the coming weeks in addition to downloadable forms.
There are two forms. The Organisation Registration form is about your organisation, and the other is the Opportunitiy Registration form which is about volunteer opportunities within your organisation.
If you are offering a number of different placements (e.g. trustee, gardener, fundraiser, driver) please fill in one copy of your organisation details, and as many copies of the Opportunity Registration form as necessary. If your organisation is already registered with us for volunteering opportunities you will not need to fill out the Organisation Registration Form again.
Please do not include any confidential information that you do not want to make known to the public (such as ex-Directory phone numbers or home addresses).
Once you have completed the forms, please return it to South Hams Volunteer Centre. We will:
- Prepare information to give to potential volunteers interested in your organisation,
- Enter your information on the national volunteering database.
Opportunities are promoted in a variety of ways; through one-to-one sessions, from the do-it website, in local press and radio and through regular promotional events.
You are welcome to send us any publicity material or leaflets that you would like us to display and any forms, policies or handbooks you use for volunteers that we could keep for reference.
The forms are in Word format, if you are not able to access them, please contact and we can email them to you.

If there are parts of the forms you do not understand, or have difficulty in answering (for example, you don't have policies in place as yet), please contact, and we can help you to successfully involve volunteers in your organisation.
